Frequently asked questions about travel insurance
EHIC is the European Health Insurance Card (EKUZ - Europejska Karta Ubezpieczenia Zdrowotnego), which gives you access to basic healthcare in the member states of the European Union and the countries of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) (e.g. Switzerland).
The card provides access to healthcare offered through the country’s public health service on the same basis as it is offered to the citizens. This means that the range of medical services in the country you are travelling to may differ from those reimbursed in Poland by the National Health Service and you may have to pay part of the cost of a medical consultation or hospitalisation.
The differences or the need to pay in full or in part may concern the cost of medicines or the costs associated with the insured person’s medical transport.
My Trip insurance provides cover during the period of insurance indicated in the policy document, starting no earlier than 6 hours after the premium has been paid for the contract.
If, at the time of conclusion of the contract, you are outside Poland, insurance cover will not commence until 3 days have elapsed at the earliest (grace period - no premium is charged for this period).
